No More Paid Advertisements from Online Casino Companies

In light of the United States legislation banning transactions from online casinos, the major search engines have created regulations that will curb the types of paid advertisements Web surfers encounter on their Web site. Both Google and Yahoo! have addressed the issue of paid online casino advertisements through their sites. But now it seems that there may be a couple of loopholes that companies can jump through to still advertise through the search enginies.

Google has banned all gambling paid search ads, that includes online casinos, and any sites that advertise gambling for real-money. But now that some sites are side-stepping the ban, New Media Age reports that Google has no plans in the works to review the ban, and adjust accordingly.

The Web site advertising in question is not an online casino site, rather the Sky Poker brand. The Sky Poker network currently released a campaign in the UK that does not explicitly violate Google’s ban, rather the Web site directs searchers to the Web page where images depict real players gambling with real money through streaming footage from the Sky poker TV channel.

And it seems that this is okay with Google, since Sky is not offering players online casino gambling, or inviting them to gamble. Yahoo! is newer to the regulations on gambling-paid advertising bans, and just last week they announced that advertisements may not “contain invitations to play, any mention of money, or any offers or incentives to take part in gaming.” Yahoo! went on to warn the online casinos with this: “Existing advertisements are currently being reviewed for compliance and we expect this process to be complete by mid June. If your advertisement is found to be non-compliant you will be notified by email and it will be suspended until the necessary changes are made.”
