New Venue For Next Year's Summit

Considering the disappointing turnout at the annual Global Interactive Gaming Summit and Expo held in Montreal last month, the organizing group is now looking for alternative locations to hold the event. Most attribute the low attendance at the Montreal Summit to the new climate of online casino gambling in the United States. Because the U.S. regulations were so new and uncertain this year many senior executives who operate online casinos servicing other nations outside of the U.S. feared emergency airplane landings on U.S. soil.

But the River City Group successfully runs a similar Summit in both Europe and Asia, so the group knows that the annual Summit can be a success if a new centralized location in found. Some of the Caribbean nations specifically did not attend the event even though they are heavy hitters in the online casino industry.

Sue Schneider is the CEO of the River City Group, and she commented on the general climate surrounding the Montreal Expo and gave a call-to-action for the online casino companies who chose not to attend. "Given the skittishness about attending i-gaming events near the United States, River City Group Clarion is reevaluating the location choices for GIGSE '08, the 10th anniversary of this core industry event. Because we already have existing events in Europe and Asia as well as consideration of one in South America in '08, we're asking for your input on possible locations."

The 2008 online casino Gaming Summit and Expo will mark the 10th Anniversary for the event, and the River City Group is determined to find a new location that satisfies a majority of the internet gambling companies. In the letter to the delegates requesting ideas for new locations, Schneider notes some of the requirements for the new location: accessible by international flights, has a venue that accommodates 1,000 or more attendees, and an IT infrastructure that is capable of handling the exhibitors and attendees.
