Unrest in Britain's Politics

Accusations are surfacing that Tony Blair, the current Prime Minister, had previous plans to oust the Chancellor Gordon Brown years ago. This would have meant a greatly different landscape for the online casino gambling industry if he had in fact implemented the supposed plan to “dismantle Brown’s powerbase.” Though that never came to fruition, and the online casinos and land-based sites have flourished over the past couple of years, Blair is still under scrutiny by the media because of the allegations.

The current political landscape is quite stable and the media has anticipated a smooth transition as Brown becomes labor leader next week. Blair has repeatedly and publicly supported Brown, most recently at his final cabinet address, he spoke of his “unswerving loyalty” to his successor. But the speculation over papers that indicate that Blair considered restructuring with Brown no longer in the big picture could put the whole succession in a new light and cause some concerns in the online casinos industry.

Others though claim that the whole situation is creating unnecessary media speculation about both the succession of Prime Minister and the changes in the online casino and gambling industry that Brown implemented. It seems that even with the apparent speculation about Blair’s position on Brown years ago, Brown is still firmly on the path to becoming the United Kingdom’s next Prime Minister.

In the coming week Gordon Brown will assume the position as leader of Britain’s ruling Labor Party. At that time, it is anticipated that Brown will be officially endorsed as Blair’s successor. Then, at that point, it’s pretty much official, all Brown has to do is gain the Queen’s approval at a meeting that will take place shortly thereafter.
