A Solution for Excessive Gamblers Gambling addiction is a problem that can often be hard to control and stop because land-based casinos do not really have a way to monitor who enters the casino and uses the facilities. Now though the online casino industry has a data-sharing program developed by Ethoca Limited that if put to use across the board could prove very effective for gambling addicts. Registering with the service – both problem gamblers and online casinos, is the first step in implementing this solution.
Ethoca uses the data-sharing fraud management system in other areas of internet commerce, but now the company has announced that the program would be very effective if used throughout the online casino industry so that players quite simply cannot participate in certain forms of gambling when they are registered with the service. The addictive gambler would self register with the site, and then the online casinos using the system would effectively and easily block the player from registering, or even playing at the site if they are already registered.
The President of Ethoca, notes, “Industry groups and leading online gaming operators are looking for responsible and effective ways to help problem gamblers exclude themselves from accessing online casino gaming sites and Ethoca is in a position to help.”
The Interactive Gaming Council is already onboard with this new plan for the industry, and the Chief Executive, John Fitzgerald comments, “All industry participants would have to agree that working together to help persons negatively affected by excessive gambling is much more effective and powerful than trying to do so in isolation. Promoting responsible gaming is an absolute priority for the IGC and supporting the implementation of an industry-wide self-exclusion feature is common sense. At the IGC we have stated that we will work alongside technology partners to provide our membership with tools that ensure a safe, secure environment for players everywhere and we look forward to being involved in this initiative.”
