Social Networking Goes Gambling Facebook is the first of the social networking sites to propose an alternative to the online casinos ban in the U.S. The Facebook team has announced that a new play-money affiliated Web site will provide users with an effective outlet for the gambling urge.
BetsGoWild.com is a gambling application that Facebook will offer all registered members. And in true social networking fun, the site will really take the range of bets from pop culture events to major sporting teams. Some of the wild betting topics at the faux online casino betting site included those betting on when Paris Hilton would be released from jail, to other celeb events.
Facebook was primed and ready to offer the non-real money online casino betting and gambling because the site already has 25 million registered users in the U.S. market alone. And though the other top social networking sites like Myspace.com have not announced plans for affiliated betting and gambling sites, if the concept is as successful as they anticipate, it could mean more options in the coming year.
And because the online casino betting site does not involve any form of real-money gambling, it meets the requirements of the U.S.’s UIGEA.
