Barney Frank's Bill Gaining Popularity Neutralizing the online casino ban (the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act) is one of the chief concerns for many politicians and congressmen who feel that the ban not only limits American’s personal freedoms, but they also note the international animosity now targeted at the United States because the Department of Justice refuses to budge in the issue of offshore online casinos gambling in the U.S. Barney Frank brought a bill before Congress just this past April, HR 2046, and is now encouraging all politicians who are not familiar with the U.S.’s internet gambling policy to examine the issue. To this end, Frank has managed to raise his politician support level to 32 in just the few short months since he presented his bill.
Frank’s bill is a sensible solution the online casinos problem according to many. Frank’s proposed bill, the Internet Gambling Regulation and Enforcement Act would effectively neutralize the current UIGEA and then license and regulate the industry. Though some politicians claim that Frank’s bill does not realistically allow for the U.S. government to effectively license and regulate the online casinos, others feel that the approach is both realistic and attainable considering the fact that other countries have similar systems in place.
Frank’s aids continue to stress to the concerned online casino players that the most effective way to ensure that the gambling ban is altered as soon as humanly possible is to contact state representatives and encourage as many politicians as possible to re-examine their stance on internet gambling. Recently, Florida Congressmen Robert Wexler echoed the same sentiments.
The list of supporters for giving Americans back the personal freedom to gamble at online casinos from their home is now at 32 and includes:
Alcee L. Hastings Don Young Gary L. Ackerman Howard L. Berman James McGovern Julia Carson Joseph Crowley Bob Filner Luis V. Gutierrez Peter T. King Jim McDermott James McGovern Charlie Melancon Ed Perlmutter Linda T Sanchez Melvin L. Watt Shelly Berkley Michael Capuano Wm.
