Increases Across the Board

The gambling revenue in Macau has risen at an incredible rate so far this year. The Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau just released statistics for the first six months of 2007, and every sector of the industry from land-based and online casinos to table games and betting are reporting phenomenal gross revenue gains. Industry analysts have increasingly cited the Asian pacific as the most rapidly developing gambling community in the world, and the statistics seem to align with this prediction.

Every sector of the gambling has begun the move into the Asian gambling industry – many online casinos really began to focus on this section of the market after the United States pulled out of the internet gambling industry. Even world poker touring tournaments are increasingly putting at least one Asian location on the tour schedule to start the process of tapping into this growing market. In that same light, industry analysts have also called Macau the Las Vegas of the East – and because Macau has more opportunities to expand and to act as a destination vacation, in the coming years Macau will surpass Las Vegas in terms of gross gambling revenue.

Specifically, for the beginning of 2007, Macau generated US $4.75 billion in gross gaming revenue. This figure shows a startling increase of 46.1 percent. Every sector’s gross receipts grew by nearly double and so did the number and types of gambling offered. Table games grew by 58.8 percent, slot machines and video slots generated stellar profits, and Baccarat is simply the game to play right now in Macau as this game brought in nearly 85 percent of the industry’s gross profits for the six month period of time.
