General Support Does Help!

Over the past several months several of the United States Congressmen that opposed the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act have encouraged all concerned U.S. citizens to contact their state Congressmen and bring the issue into general discussion. And despite the belief that letters to state Congressmen have little effect, Florida Congressman Robert Wexler has announced that the actions are effective. With the online casino industry such a hot topic in the world right now, and the U.S.’s precarious position with the World Trade Organisation, politicians are eager to hear from those actually affected by the online casinos ban. There are a few solutions available to politicians, and U.S. player support has already encouraged several state politicians took investigate the UIGEA and choose a side in the heated debate.

Wexler stresses that it just isn’t enough for the online casino players to wish for better legislation regarding the industry. He comments, "What I think most Americans don't appreciate, letters DO matter to members of Congress. Emails DO matter, form letters, personal letters DO matter, telephone calls DO matter.” He goes on to stress to online casino players who are concerned about the UIEGA’s infringement on U.S. citizens’ personal liberties to use his advice as a call to action.

Wexler also notes that concerned online casinos players should really research the topic and rally behind those current politicians that are beginning to rally support for bills that would counteract the UIGEA. Wexler notes that he is not speaking out on this issue merely to gain support for his current bill, but so that online casino players will support all of the upcoming bills that offer a solution to the UIGEA international issue. Others rallying support include Barney Frank’s bill that proposes that the government reverse the UIGEA and instead license and regulate the online casino gambling industry in the U.S., Shelley Berkley’s latest bill also aligns with need to reverse the UIGEA and is in the “gathering support” phase.
