Online Casino Gambling Uses Databases

The Unibet online casino betting company is currently dismissing a pending lawsuit from ATG over the use of ATG’s unique horseracing database. Though ATG is firmly of the opinion that online casinos are not permitted and licensed to use the ATG database, Unibet, among other internet betting sites, has acknowledged use of the database over the seven years.

ATG though seems to get the short end of the stick if the Swedish court system does not side with the company. ATG has a unique database culled from multiple sources that media companies license from as a way to access complete horseracing information. But out of the company’s 300 licensees, none are online casino companies. For that reason ATG feels justified in suing Unibet for 240 million Swedish Kroner…that’s nearly $36 million in U.S. dollars.

Unibet though is not worried. Not only have other online casinos used the same information database without licensed permission, Unibet spokespeople have intimated that the company believes legislative precedent in both the Swedish courts and the European Union Commission will end with a favorable ruling for Unibet. After blatant dismissal of the lawsuit from Unibet, ATG countered with claims that the cases Unibet feel set legal precedent for similar leniency in the pending lawsuit are actually significantly dissimilar.

The lawyer for the online casino betting company Unibet stated in a press release that the information that Unibet uses is of general interest and knowledge in the industry and should be free to all involved.
