People Search Poker

Even online casinos gambling bans cannot squash the player interest in poker – whether it’s online poker or at land-based poker rooms, poker was the top search term in the Lycos search engines for 2007. This is not the first year that poker won that exclusive spot as the most frequently searched term, in seems that the interest in anything land-based or online casino poker related draws in the players. Poker was the only gambling related term to make the top 10 list – a list populated with pop stars and social networking sites.

Part of the reason that poker has continually attracted player attention is because of the extreme popularity of poker events like the World Series of Poker, or even the poker rooms at online casinos are growing in popularity. And then add to that the fact that the international internet gambling industry is growing, and that means more online casinos and more land-and internet based poker tournaments.

As for Lycos, the search engine itemized out the top fifty search terms and in the top fifty the train wreck Britney Spears made the third spot, right under the social networking Web site Myspace.com. Poker (at the online casinos and land-based poker tournaments) is in the top spot, but myspace is one of the most consistently searched for sites in the world – and searched for on a weekly and daily basis which means that it could take poker’s top spot in the coming years if the site continues to grow exponentially.
