Player Hassles Never Cease

It’s been almost a month now, and across the online casino player message boards players are reporting the receipt of their previously frozen Neteller funds. But to the chagrin of some who eagerly went to cash their Neteller cheques, some U.S. based banks are turning the checks away. Players have waited nearly eight months now for their cheques and many are very discouraged at the latest news that some banks are turning the cheques away. The U.S. has mandated that Neteller reimburse the $94 million in frozen online casinos funds, but what happens when Neteller releases, but the banks won’t accept the money?

Now that many online casinos players have reported their cheques was turned down, Neteller did release a statement with advice for the concerned internet gamblers. Neteller commented that banks refusing to process Neteller cheques for security reasons is a fairly common practice at financial institutions. Because the e-wallet has released so many cheques it is more noticeable when the banks turn players away. Specifically, a spokesperson for the online casino e-wallet commented, "We typically mail a large number of cheques to our customers across various countries and occasionally there are presentment issues. We would therefore regard the incidences referred to as not unusual given the volume of cheques we have been mailing as part of the US distribution plan.”

To alleviate the concerns though of online casino players venting frustration in the message boards, the company released statistics on the amount of funds that have already been released from Neteller. The spokesperson notes, "You may be interested in the following statistics in relation to our US distribution plan: to date, of the $94 million due, $68.5 million has been requested (73%), of which $60.5 million has successfully cleared, and $8 million is pending/ on-route / in mail.”

Neteller made international news over the past eight months because of the company’s run-in with the U.S. Department of Justice concerning illegal online casino gambling activities in the U.S. The case was settled in July, and Neteller is in the process of complying with agreements to the settlement.
